Throughout my years of teaching, I have learned that reading and writing are keys to communication. Unfortunately, many of our children cannot read at basic level. I learned the other day that children who cannot read well by the end of their third grade year will be at a disadvantage throughout their school years. As teachers, we have to read books to our children frequently. I read books to my children everyday, throughout the day.
